5 Cool Places to Visit in Maine

 

  1. Rattlesnake Pool, Blueberry Mountain

Located in Evans Notch Maine, approximately 2 hours from Saco. This easy hike leads you to a small swimming pool. Rattlesnake pool has the clearest crystal blue water in Maine, but it is very cold. It is surrounded by lush green plants and trees making you feel like you are in a tropical oasis.

 

   2.  Portland Headlight

Portland Headlight is located in Cape Elizabeth Maine,  45 minutes from Saco, it is surrounded by beautiful shores. You can hike with spectacular views of the waves crashing against the rocks, and blooming flowers, or you can sit and enjoy the views while you have a picnic in the grass. Portland Headlight is the most photographed lighthouse in America and also the oldest in Maine. With Fort Williams Park and the lighthouse you will be sure to find something to do here!

 

 

 

 

 

3.  Moxie Falls, The Forks  

Moxie Falls is a waterfall in Somerset County in the small town of The Forks, about 3 hours from Saco. It is one of the largest waterfalls in New England with a drop of 90 feet. You take a short easy hike to see the falls, or you can swim in the areas finest swimming holes. Moxie Falls is a very scenic location that you will definitely want to visit this summer.

 

 

 

 

  4.  Old Orchard Beach  

Old Orchard Beach, Maine has 7 miles of sandy, fun beaches that are welcoming to anyone. Located just 10 minutes from Saco. Old Orchard has a pier that stretches 500 feet over the ocean with food, games, shops and more. You can attend the beachfront amusement park, or enjoy the good food located in the square. Thursday nights you can watch fireworks and be a part of the nightlife that surrounds the beach. Old Orchard Beach is the place to be this summer!

 

  5.  Acadia National Park  

Acadia National Park is located in Bar Harbor, Maine 4 hours from Saco. You can hike, visit the beaches, horseback ride through the trails, visit Thunder Hole, or find Anemone Cave a secret spot where at low tide you can see millions of sea creatures and anemone. Acadia National Park shows the beauty of Maine, with rocky shores, the ocean, and mountains.
